The Pinewoods Community AGM took place on 11 March 2026 and was very well attended, with around 24 members of the local community joining the committee to hear updates on the past year’s work and plans for the future. April is one of the most magical months in northern woodlands. Bluebells begin to bloom, creating vibrant swathes of blue beneath newly unfurling leaves. Bluebells create spectacular displays but they are easily damaged. Warblers return from migration listen for chiffchaffs and willow warblers calling from the treetops. March brings movement and sound back to Pinewoods. The dawn chorus builds each week as robins, blackbirds and wrens stake their claims. Birdsong builds rapidly as the woodland wakes. Wood anemones start to carpet the woodland floor, taking advantage of sunlight before the canopy closes. Frogs and toads may be active near ponds and damp areas.
