Pinewoods Conservation Group

Looking after Pinewoods

Pinewoods Conservation Group is the community-led charity dedicated to the protection and enhancement of Pinewoods.

Since 2002, it has brought together local knowledge, practical conservation and a long-term commitment to the woodland, its wildlife and the people who experience it.

Community since 2002

Pinewoods Conservation Group was formed in October 2002 and became a registered charity in January 2003. What began as a local commitment to protect the woods has developed into more than twenty years of continuing care.

The group’s constitution defines its charitable purpose, while the 2018–2028 Management Plan provides a framework for the long-term care and enhancement of Pinewoods.

Continuous evolution

Trees mature and fall. Habitats shift. Paths wear and new life takes hold. Looking after Pinewoods means understanding these changes and responding with patience, knowledge and practical care.

Over the years, Pinewoods Conservation Group has restored footpaths, installed fingerposts and information boards, planted trees and bulbs and created habitats for birds and bats. This visible work is accompanied by something less easily measured: a continuous community presence within the woods.

The group also helps people understand Pinewoods and participate in its management. This combination of conservation, education and community stewardship allows the woodland to remain healthy, accessible and valued as it continues to evolve.
