How to Object To Rotary Wood Plans Tue, 2021-03-02 12:47

Following the rejection of the recent planning variation for a larger extension to the Harrogate Spring Water bottling plant into Rotary Wood, we can now confirm that the original application is now being reviewed by Harrogate Council. The full plans for the original extension were submitted in May 2020 along with the variation for the larger extension. (As a reminder outline planning for the original extension was approved in May 2017 with a number of strict condition.) We held any decision on those full plans until we knew the outcome of the application for the larger site. However, we now expect the planning committee to be asked to approve the original application over the next few months.

Research on Carbon Losses from the Proposed Rotary Wood Felling Sat, 2021-01-23 16:23

We are grateful to the team at Priestley International Centre for Climate, University of Leeds, especially Anna Gugan & Professor Piers M. Forster, for their research into the carbon loss at Rotary Wood.

The report confirms our concern that the mitigation being offered does not equate to land being lost with regards to carbon loss.

This morning we ventured into the woods with some of our intrepid volunteers to do some balsam bashing! It was raining but it did not deter us and we had great fun….

So much so that we are arranging another get together in a couple of weeks to do some more.

It also raises a number of concerns regarding the Harrogate Spring Water commissioned report undertaken last year. This report has been submitted to Harrogate Council as additional information to support our objection.

Council Protection for The Pinewoods Extended Thu, 2020-03-05 15:58

Harrogate based conservation charity Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has been granted a renewal of its Asset of Community Value designation for the Pinewood, Harrogate. The Pinewoods, including Rotary Woods and Irongate Field, was first offered additional protection under the Localism Act in 2015 for an initial 5 years. This extension, the 1st ever granted by Harrogate Council, will see this protection extended to March 2025.
