Pinewoods Conservation Group met with Yorkshire Water last week to discuss grass cutting at Harlow Moor Water Treatment Works. The meeting was also attended by Harrogate District Bio Diversity Action Group (HDBAG) and Rebecca Burnett from the office of Andrew Jones MP after approached by local residents around the issue. We are repeatedly asked about potential conflicts of interest within Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) regarding the Harrogate Spring Water Limited (HSWL) planning application. HBC is of course planning authority and landowner. It also reported that the council has a continued financial interest in terms of revenue linked to turnover. Updated 1st Feb 2014: Thank you to the 12 new members for January. Just another 88 to go to meet our 100 target for 2014. The Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has launched a membership drive for 2014. The Harrogate based charity, which promotes the maintenance and conservation of the area known as the Pinewoods situated between the Valley Gardens and Harlow Carr Gardens, is looking to double its members during the year.
