Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has launched an exciting new competition to capture The Pinewoods throughout the seasons. Visitors to the woods are being asked to submit pictures over the next 12 months representing the seasons. The best pictures for each season will be selected for a limited edition 2016 calendar. An application by Harrogate based charity The Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) to have The Pinewoods designated as an official Local Green Space has been rejected by Harrogate Council. The application, made in June 2016, was a formal submission as part of the soon to be released new local plan process. Detail |

Planting has started at Irongate field as part of the Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) project to turn the area into a community green space. Wednesday 16th April saw the project get officially underway as part of RHS National Gardening Week with RHS Harlow Carr nominating this project as one they wanted to support. Joining RHS staff was members of the PCG along with students from Horticap and Harrogate District Biodiversity Action Group. Detail |

We know our campaign to protect Rotary Wood is generating lots of questions so we've tried to address them here. If there are any further questions then please let us know via email or social media. Our main priorities are to ensure this issue is debated and that any actions are carried out in an open and transparent way. Q1: Have you raised with your MP and what is their view? Although anti-social behaviour in The Pinewoods is rare and caused by a minority it is important that issues are reported formally. This will allow authorities to identify any increases in issues and direct any resources needed to intervene as appropriate. We are therefore asking members and visitors to report any occurrences of: • vandalism • possible criminal damage • evidence of drug taking • location of fires • large areas of litter Detail |

We are grateful to the team at Priestley International Centre for Climate, University of Leeds, especially Anna Gugan & Professor Piers M. Forster, for their research into the carbon loss at Rotary Wood. The report confirms our concern that the mitigation being offered does not equate to land being lost with regards to carbon loss.
